Dr. Cali Estes Founder of The Addictions Academy confirmed she has been invited to deliver the keynote speech, addressing this year’s Kansas Opioid Conference. The 4th annual gathering will be help virtually this year November 12-13. The popular event hosted by Developing Caring Communities Committed to Action (DCCCA) allows professionals and other interested parties to learn more about the opioid crisis in Kansas. The goal is to engage together in a proactive effort to build a collaborative response which will help to prevent the escalation of the opioid crisis in Kansas.
Dr. Estes, along with the other presenters at the conference are attempting to help educate, inform, and end the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery issues. Dr. Estes will share her experience from both sides, as the wife of an addict and as a clinician with her speech, “I Married A Junkie,” how an addictions professional helped her husband kick heroin and what you can do to help your loved ones combat the throes of addiction. The presentation will offer key takeaways that will help you help your loved ones get clean and sober and live a happy and productive life.
With 25 years as a clinician and addictions professional, Dr. Cali Estes opened up a private practice and began helping people around the world get sober from drugs and alcohol. While building her signature practice, Sober on Demand, and helping top Celebrities, NFL players, and CEO’s get their lives together, hers was falling apart at home. Her husband, a touring drummer, Tim Estes, started using heroin. After three overdoses, a carjacking, and seven car accidents, he got sober. They wrote a bestselling book about their experience titled “I Married A Junkie” hoping their story would help others find a similar pathway to recovery success.
“Through the telling of my personal story I hope to aid those in substance abuse recovery by providing some confidence that there is a better life for them beyond addiction,” stated Estes.
The 4th Annual Kansas Opioid Conference will be held virtually over two half days, from 12:00 pm – 4:15 pm on the 12th and from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm on the 13th. CME, CNE, BSRB, EMS, Law Enforcement, and Pharmacy credits may be awarded through the conference. General Continuing Education credits can be received by submitting your conference certificate to your licensing entity.
